Interlace – What started as a passion project has now blossomed into an inventive small business. Every piece created is designed with love and handcrafted with great joy by our wonderful team of local artisans. We strive to deliver the very highest quality modern designs in rattan that cannot readily be found elsewhere.
Our Story
It started with when I wanted rattan seats in modern custom design for my room. It was not a good experience since the quality was not good and I ended up disposing of them after some time. Trained as an architect and a nature lover, I have always wanted to use natural materials in contemporary designs.
I realized that the local artisans have wonderful skills that can be polished into creating masterpieces that complement modern spaces. So I decided to get my hands on the material itself; and reveled in the novelty of it. ‘Interlace’ was formed.
Today we are a small team of a few craftsmen, working in collaboration with each other. We take pride in hard work, customer satisfaction and quality of product. Every piece is slowly handmade in small batches. There is sourcing, crafting, drying and finishing times that cannot be rushed, creating a unique item for every customer.
Interlace is not just for the buyers as the artisans are at the heart of our mission. We strongly promote ethical wages and artisan empowerment.
As our journey leads us into new trends, you will find us on a creative mission with pencil and paper, designing and sketching, to computer drawings of beautiful pieces inspired by nature and tradition and finally experimenting with materials to perfect the final product before bringing it to you.
